Guppy KitsGuppy Kits were created at CSU by a team of researchers led by Dr. Emily Kane and Dr. Dale Broder. Each year middle school students come to CSU to learn evolutionary concepts while interacting with live guppies! Dr. Kane & Dr. Broder have brought the kits to their new institutions. During grad school, I continued the kits at CSU and expanded their reach by bringing them to CO middle and high schools . For more information: http://www.cns-eoc.colostate.edu/smallfish.html

Outstanding Undergrads
I have had the privilege of mentoring eight undergraduates during my academic career thus far. In particular, I have mentored three undergraduates on extensive projects. Kyndall Zeller (left) and I first worked together when she was a field and lab technician in the Ghalambor lab at Colorado State. We have collaborated on many projects and are about to submit a paper together on guppy behavior. Kyndall is now a PhD student at UC Davis in Population Biology. Hailey Molina (center) and I worked together on several guppy projects during her senior year at Colorado State. Her hard work was rewarded when she won the best poster award at The Front Range Student Ecology Symposium in 2019 for her poster "The Effect of Salinity and Competition on the Range Limits of Two Sympatric Euryhaline Fish." Isabella Lovalvo (right) and I begun working together in my first semester as a postdoc at UC Berkeley (Fall 2021). We are currently using museum specimens to investigate the ecomorphology of lizards across the Western USA. We hope to combine that work with behavior data this summer. All of these fantastic scientists are interested in pursuing careers in ecology/biology, so be on the lookout for their applications and future work!
